£11.75m of funding available

We have £11.75m of Regional Growth Funding (RGF) available to companies in Northumberland, or those that are planning to locate here, that want to expand, diversify or grow their business.

The RGF fund is available as grants and loans to help create or protect jobs that will lead to the long-term growth of the county’s skills and talents.

Applications are open now with three themes:

1. Accelerating Business Growth Fund to provide grants or loans to support and speed-up business expansion, new market, product or service development; help Alcan supply-chain firms and others to diversify; attract inward investment and support training.

2. Sites and Premises Fund to provide grants to businesses looking to invest in new premises and property extensions to enable growth and job creation.

3. Apprenticeship and Training Fund to support the provision of advanced and higher level apprenticeships in the engineering and manufacturing sectors and develop a highly skilled and productive workforce.

Support available

In all cases, financial support from the Programme will need to comply with EU State Aid regulations. These govern the proportion of total project costs that can be supported by the Programme – applicants will need to demonstrate that the project can be funded in full using other sources, as required, alongside Programme funds.

Application criteria

Businesses of all sizes in Northumberland, or those planning to locate to Northumberland, can apply. However, the grants and loans are principally, but not exclusively, aimed at manufacturing businesses or service to Industry/Commerce.

Priority focus will be on South East and Mid-Northumberland including the commuter areas of Morpeth, Alnwick, Ashington and Cramlington and all applicants need to demonstrate their business is viable and that the investment will “add value” through improving its performance and sustainability.

Interested?

Talk to us about your project and we’ll tell you all about the RGF funding and application process.

If you want to apply:

  • The first step is to submit an Expression of Interest Form (EoI) outlining the details of the business, the project and the amount of funding required so that your project can be assessed against the “gateway” criteria.
  • The second step for approved projects is to submit a more detailed Full Business Case providing full details of the project and delivery arrangements, market prospects for the business, the impact of the project on employment and business performance, the impact on skills and talent (as applicable) and key project risks.
