Investing in success

We are the Northumberland Development Company with a county-wide remit to attract investment, deliver development and implement regeneration.

Wholly-owned by Northumberland County Council, with a mixed public-private Board, we bring a robust enterprising and business-like approach to the development challenge.

We are an asset-based business with a growing and profitable portfolio which allows us to invest in new projects and develop joint ventures with commercial partners. Our operating surpluses are reinvested in projects to support and drive affordable housing, regeneration, economic development, digital choice and inward investment in Northumberland.

Our Mission

Our task is to unlock the economic potential of Northumberland and create successful, sustainable communities. Our mission is to:

  • Help create prosperous, attractive, sustainable communities in all parts of Northumberland
  • Promote enterprise and support business growth
  • Attract private sector investment in business and property
  • Support the regeneration of disadvantaged places and neighbourhoods
What we have found helpful from a health, safety and environmental perspective is the proximity of several universities, who are all keen to establish links with industry. We have had students from the universities of Newcastle and Sunderland carrying out research projects and work placements here, and we use the analytical facilities at the University of Northumbria.Renolit

Development

We’re ready to respond quickly and imaginatively to new opportunities and we’re always prospecting for investment opportunities. The key to our success is that we are focused; focused on developments and activities that will help us to achieve our aim, fit with market demand and stay within our delivery capacity.
